Knitting Club

So tonight is the second night of our knitting club...only three of the 6 people can make it, but Wednesday nigths will always be a bit on the thinner side for attendance...but no matter I'm still looking forward to it. I'm currently working on my first shrug, I just started it and I think that it will take me a little while. So far I have completed 13 scarves, several hats, 2 shawls and 10+ squares for the knit a square program.

Knitting in the Round

Another fear overcome...I finally conquered my fear of knitting in the round...it was a lot easier than I ever expected it would be and I knit my first hat in an evening...Granted it would have been quicker had I not had to redo it couple of times, but in the end it all worked out...

The problem for me with knitting in the round was that I made it a lot more difficult than it had to be. First I thought that when I joined them together that I had to transfer all of my cast on stitches to the other side as opposed to just tunring the needles in my hands...duh! I love that it automatically does the stockinette stitch when knitting in the round, it's like some very cool magic trick.

I still need assistance with the top as I know it had to be easier to finish off than what I made it, so I will have to check with my knitting mentors for advise. I think that my next project will be a cute felted knitting bag.

Meet Piper

Meet Piper! Piper is my new foster dog...she's only 18 mos old and very sweet! I just got her on Monday but she has done a good job fitting right in with my family. I hope she finds her forever family soon!

Newbe Knitter

I'm a newbe knitter but I love it, it's very relaxing and I like that it is so easy to work on anywhere. Plus you get to see immediate results from your efforts. I have worked on several scarves and several squares for the knit a square program.
If your a beginner like me and your looking for a charity to knit for check out it's great to help you perfect your gauge. You knit 8"x8" squares that are then made into quilts to help keep abandoned children and AIDS orphans of southern Africa warm.

Another thing about being a newbie knitter is that I have found it to be contagious...I was unsure of talking to my non-knitter friends about it since I didn't feel like getting hassled about it, but then it turns out that they had always wanted to learn too! Next thing you know I have 4 of my friends learning to knit too!!! So this Saturday I am hosting my first knitting party! I'm very excited!

Two Yarn Colors One Scarf

This is the EASIEST scarf I have ever knitted! And fun too...Not sure why I was so scared to try and knit with two colors of yarn at the same time, but that fear is now long gone! If you want to do a quick and easy scarf I would strongly recommend this pattern. This scarf took me less than 3 hours!

Materials:
Two of your favorite colored thick and chunky yarn skeins
Size 19 needles

Directions:
Holding both pieces of yarn cast on 10 stitches
Using the knit stitch knit scarf until it is the desired length...this one is 5 ft
Bind off and weave ends throuh scarf.
